Facial Plastic Surgery in Toronto
Full Facelift
A surgical facelift is a set of procedures used for moderate-to-advanced signs of lower facial aging such as jowling and loss of jawline definition. The goals are to tighten loose, sagging facial skin and soft tissue to restore a natural and more youthful facial appearance. A surgical facelift is often combined with a forehead lift, neck lift, blepharoplasty, or laser skin resurfacing to create a natural, balanced result.
Mini Facelift
A Mini-Lift is a modifed facelift used to resuspend the midface, jowls, or neck with less-invasive surgery compared to a traditional “full” surgical facelift. The main advantages are a shorter recovery period and smaller incisions. A Mini-Lift is often combined with facial liposuction, laser skin resurfacing, or injectables to create a natural result.
Facial Liposuction
Facial liposuction is a common cosmetic procedure to improve the definition of the neck, chin and jawline by extracting fat cells using a cannula. It can either be performed on its own or in combination with other treatments such as a surgical facelift or neck lift.
EFI Thread Lift
The EFI (Eye Face Institute) Thread Lift is a minimally-invasive facelift using special suture material (threads) to resuspend the sagging facial tissues. It can be used to resuspend the brows, midface, jowls, or neck without removing any skin through micro-incisions in the hairline.
Silhouette Lift
A Silhouette Lift is a relatively new, minimally-invasive surgical technique used to resuspend the brows, midface, nasolabial areas, jowls, and neck with a unique type of suture that has absorbable cones to support the sagging tissues.
Forehead Lift
A forehead lift, also called browlift, is surgical resuspension of the forehead to treat droopy eyebrows, deep wrinkles (furrows), loose skin, and hooded upper eyelids. It is often combined with cosmetic blepharoplasty, droopy eyelid surgery (ptosis repair), or facelifting to balance facial proportions and create a natural result.
Neck Lift
A surgical neck lift is used to enhance the contour of the neck, chin, and jawline by tightening and or removing the loose neck skin and muscle. It is also called platysmaplasty or cervicoplasty and is often combined with other surgical procedures such as a facelift or facial liposuction.
Cosmetic Chin Surgery
A well-defined chin gives balance to the face. Chin projection has been consistently shown to correlate strongly with facial attractiveness for both men and women in multiple cross-cultural studies. It is important, however, that the size and shape of the chin is in harmony with the other facial structures. For example, a very small chin can make the nose look disproportionately large, while a very large chin can make the entire upper face (forehead, eyes, nose) look disproportionately small.
Cosmetic Lip Surgery
The lips are a capturing facial aesthetic feature and also important functionally because they approximate the delicate structures around the mouth used while speaking and making many nuanced facial expressions. Cosmetic surgery (e.g. lip lift, laser skin resurfacing) can be used to optimize the shape and position of the lips as well as the surrounding skin.
Cosmetic Ear Surgery
Cosmetic ear surgery is also known as otoplasty and can be done to improve the proportion, shape, or position of the ears. For instance, if the ears are disproportionately large (macrotia) or they protrude forward, this can be surgically corrected. When heavy earrings are worn for many years and the piercing site becomes abnormally stretched open, this can be reconstructed. Cosmetic ear surgery involves operating on the outer part of the ear and must be distinguished from those procedures performed to improve hearing (i.e. inside the ear).
