What is Cosmetic Rhinoplasty?

Cosmetic rhinoplasty, commonly called a “nose job”, is surgical nose reshaping to improve its shape and projection so that it blends naturally and harmoniously with other facial features. It can also be done for medical reasons such as difficulty breathing or disfigurement from trauma. EFI Facial Plastic Surgeons commonly combine cosmetic and medical rhinoplasty when necessary to optimize both the shape and function of the nose.

Am I a good candidate for rhinoplasty?

The nose is a critically-important aesthetic feature because it sits at the center of your face and it’s shape and projection impacts every other aspect. If you feel embarrassed because your nose is too big, too small, crooked, flat, pinched, has nostrils that flare, or has a tip that hangs, then cosmetic rhinoplasty will be an excellent option. If you suffer from breathing problems, rhinoplasty can also help improve airflow into the nose.

Will my results look natural after rhinoplasty?

The highest priority for EFI Facial Plastic Surgeons is to perform nose reshaping that is ethnically-appropriate and creates a natural result that suits your face. Using computer software to modify your pre-operative photograph, we will carefully sit down with you to plan the desired post-operative result you would like.

How is surgical rhinoplasty performed?

Rhinoplasty is performed using either an open or closed technique depending upon the amount of exposure required to access the nasal bone, cartilage, septum and other anatomical structures. EFI Surgeons prefer using the closed technique whenever possible so that there are no visible skin incisions. Surgery takes 1-3 hours under moderate sedation and local anesthesia. It is an outpatient procedure with no need for overnight monitoring.

Can rhinoplasty be done without surgery?

Yes “filler rhinoplasty” can be done in suitable candidates using injectables (e.g. Restylane, Juvederm) to improve the shape and projection of the nose. This will not help breathing issues but is a great non-surgical option which can improve symmetry and balance.

What is revision rhinoplasty?

Revision rhinoplasty refers to an operation performed because a prior rhinoplasty did not achieve the desired cosmetic result or a new structural problem was created (e.g. difficulty breathing). EFI Facial Plastic Surgeons have a lot of expertise performing revision rhinoplasty for complex cases.
